There's this road, and I consider it to be mine since I'm the one who uses it more than anyone else. This post is picture heavy! :D

I live in the country, in farmland where there are tons of wheat, corn, and soybean fields. There's this one dirt road that I've traveled on for years now. I biked on this road, and now I jog on it. I love how it changes over the year. Right now, the wheat is tall and green, and the soybeans and corn are just barely sprouting from the soil. Later, the corn grows high like walls, and the soybeans lush and soft looking. The wheat is harvested by then. In fall, it's all harvested and wheat is seeded to grow over the winter. Shorn corn and soybean stalks look prickly, and their root systems made long furrows in the soil. Then winter, just soil save for the wheat which grows bright green! Then spring again. Then the fields are tilled and seeded. It repeats every year.

The road is dirt, so any torrential rains and flooding reshape the road. Sometimes it makes valleys and mini canyons in the dirt that pose a risk of tripping and falling. One time, I crashed my bike and the wheel bent beyond repair because of this. Any tractors that drive on it while it is soft and muddy create huge HUGE (cuz tractors are huge) ruts and tire treads in the dirt. You really have to pay attention when traveling on this road.

There is one part where there is shade, and there's always some water there that drains from the fields. Honeysuckle currently grows there and the scent is heavenly! It's fragrant, flowery, and rain-watery.

The road is a mile long, and at the end, if you turn one way it's a grass road. Turn the other way and it's a long road that is again about a mile. At the end of this road is an interstate and what I have named the "Schrei tree."

I named it this because one day I was taking a break under its shade and "Schrei" came on my ipod. I have a strong tendency to link songs to physical locations, so now every time I hear "Schrei" or pass this tree, I think of the other.

On this one stretch of road, I think a house was once there because there's some wood off to the side, daffodils in the spring, a cherry tree, and lots of pieces of multicolored glass and pottery, which I collect. So shiny!

Here's a field.

Here's another field. I didn't enhance this photo.

Another giant cloud. Clouds scare me a little.

Today was interesting because when I was jogging, I couldn't jog on my road because of big rain this morning, and it was too muddy. So I ran on the paved country roads. I took my neighbor's dog today, his name is Bear but I call him Tommy because it's habit. I only call him Bear when I want him to come, and even then he doesn't. There were cows in a pasture today, and they followed me! I've never been pursued by livestock before. My mom has! She has this crazy story about running away from a herd of longhorn cattle. I guess being chased by cows runs in the family. I took a picture and also some video. How fun! The video is really shaky because I'm trying to run and film. XD

So yeah, I love that I have pretty much my own private road to enjoy, and that it's so pretty!
