melluransa: (TH boys happy)
Hello everyone!

After a month and a half of nonstop applying to jobs (I applied more than 30 different places), after turning two down and corresponding with lots of job recruiters and basically feeling like I'd die if I didn't get a job, I finally finally got one.

I interviewed earlier this week with the HR guy. I anticipated his office being really cold (schools are always cold and I get cold easily) but his office was rather hot and I was sweating up a monsoon. I was so nervous and my jaw was trembling. I gave a great interview though, and I had really good feelings about it.

Two days later, the HR guy called me and said that the school district wants to offer me the position! And he went on and on listing all the benefits and salary and holidays and days off and I said yes, yes yes yes to all of the above.

My job is going to start in August, and it's at an elementary school a couple of hours away from where I live! I will administer speech and language therapy services to around 25 children (this is a low number), get real paid, and enjoy the benefits of working in a school! Let's see, there's holidays off, summers off, playing with kids all day, making differences in their lives...

Yay!

The only bad things are that it's going to be a lot of paperwork, documentation, and billing (this goes for any sort of therapist job, though) and that I'm going to have to move for it. I've never lived away from home. So, not only am I going to have a new, exciting, and scary job, but I'm also going to have to move out on my own and live away from my family for the first time.

Good news is that it's only 2 hours away from my family, and that my boyfriend is moving with me. Also good news is that my family and I were moving anyway, so all of my stuff is already in boxes. More good news is that the town my job will be at is a 10 minute drive from a major metropolitan area, and that there's a good music scene there (my bf wants new band members).

Some bad news is that I literally just moved into an apartment that's not where my job will be. My boyfriend and I cleaned and painted the place with the intent of me and him living there together, and my mom and my brother living there too for a little while before moving into their own house. Bf and I just unpacked all our stuff and all the jobs are done (save for some caulking in the bathroom). And now, within a month, we're going to have to move all over again. Gah!! And I really like this city where we are right now. We're right downtown and can walk to the farmer's market, post office, and convenience stores whenever we want. *sigh*

VERY GOOD NEWS THOUGH IS THAT I GOT A JOB. YAY. This is what I've been working for, for 5 long years in my major. And I think it's pretty neat to have a job so soon after graduating. It's very good; not only is it doing something I actually enjoy, but I'll get paid quite a bit so I can relax about money. And so I can relax about student loans.

Really though -- to be able to pay off my student loans (and comparatively I don't even have very much taken out, so there's not too much to pay back) is a very good thing.

Ok guys -- I have a tiny bit of summer left to enjoy. What should I do?
