There's something so neat about getting a little cookie with a message inside. Food with a message! I always get a little flutter of excitement when the waitress brings the cookies and the bill, and I wonder what fate has in store for me when I select my cookie.

I like the messages that are actual fortunes that predict the future, but the ones that are general reflective statements are nice too. I got one that said my year would be one of triumph, and that was the year I got accepted into grad school. Yay~ My brother got one once that said, "Promote literacy: eat more fortune cookies."

It's always fun to sit there and digest our meal, and brainstorm what some awful fortunes would be. "He's cheating on you." "You are smelly and it's only going to get worse." "Your days are numbered and the number is small." Or, just a frowny face. :( My family and I always laugh, and I think we're all secretly happy that fortune cookies have generally positive messages.

I don't actually believe the fortunes, but they are cute and whimsical. I'd actually be pretty worried if a piece of paper in a cookie decided my future. They're still nice, though. The fortune sometimes makes me think and reflect, while other times I just discard it.

And of course, the cookie itself. They're not the most delicious, but not bad! They're kind of vanilla flavored, maybe with a hint of citrus. They're only 30 calories apiece. They even make different flavors of cookies, but you'd have to special-order those or go to a special vendor. They're all made in San Francisco, I believe! There's recipes online, and even special ones that are dipped in chocolate and sprinkles.

You can custom-order your own fortunes, which is especially popular for proposing, weddings, and Valentine's day. I feel like Bill would be all over that. That's how I should ask him romantic things, is through a cookie. He'd probably find that all deep and inspiring.

Aw, so cute! My mom got a fortune once that almost rivals your brother's. It said, "Still hungry? Eat another fortune cookie." Very wise, those cookies! ;D

Awww, that's too bad! Well, I will pretend to be a fortune cookie. Ok, break me now... It doesn't hurt me, I promise. ....Ooh, nice, clean break! You broke me right down the middle.

Ok then, your fortune is: We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.

*bows*

Ok, you can eat me now. Mmm, I'm yummy! (Er, this is awkward! Aahahaha!)
