Happy birthday Cloud!!!






Cloud is the main character from Final Fantasy VII, my favorite one in the video game series. He's my favorite! Why? He's not perfect at all and he's got a lot of issues; he's actually completely delusional for most of the game. Despite that, he saves the world from the evil Sephiroth, confronts his personal demons, and finds his own identity again all within three PlayStation discs. It's such a wonderful game, such an amazing story. It's Cloud's story!

He appeared in the Kingdom Hearts series, which was my first exposure to him. I thought he was cool then too. And then, the sequel to FFVII came out -- Advent Children! It was a whole glorious movie full of Cloud.




He's great in battle! Super strong! His finishing move Omnislash was totally amazing to unleash on Sephiroth at the end of FFVII. Plus, his hair always stays perfect.



He's always sad and brooding looking.

He drives a really big motorcycle. It's so big and awesome it even has a name: Fenrir.



He's even a bit of a businessman! Well, not really but still. Here you see him looking cool with his phone and checking his messages.

Cloud is so wonderful and cute and spiky and full of issues and he's my favorite, always my favoritest favorite. In celebration of him, I reviewed this Character Profile of his. <3 Poor kid's been through a lot.

I guess you have to know your Norse Mythology to find it amusing to name a motorbike Fenrir. ;-)

Fenrir(as is Sleipnir) is a child of Loki. A HUGE wolf that is bound outside of Valhalla. He has also bitten the arm (or hand, depending on the myth you read) of the war-god Tyr. He tried to gain Fenrirs trust... and it almost worked... and cost him his arm/hand. The day Fenrir gets lose (and other things), Ragnarök- the end of the world, will start. :-)

So hence I found it very amusing to name a motorbike of all things to Fenrir. X-D

I bet it was intentional! Cloud lost the ability to use his left arm (similar to Tyr) during FFVII: Advent Children. He lost it because it was sick and infected, which was caused by the bad guy. The bad guy wants to bring about the end of their world (similar to Ragnarok). So, when Cloud rides his motorbike Fenrir to confront the bad guy and his evil spawn for the final battle, it's like Fenrir is awakened (vroom vroom!) and the end of the world is coming. And it's Cloud who stops it. :)

I saw a movie once (gorgeous) called Final Fantasy with that guy in it. And them lol-worthy dudes that only talked about their mom. X-D Man, I had a blast looking at that movie, even though I kinda cheered on the bad guys/comic reliefs. The red-headed dude and his stoic partner with the glasses. It was that movie Advent Children, although I don't remember him losing the ability to use his arm? I should watch it again, perhaps. :-) It is a gorgeous movie. Never played the games though. No patience for it. :-P

Yes, the movie is gorgeous! I love those guys talking about their mom. And the comic relief pair was indeed funny! I love when the bad guys step on the comic relief's sunglasses. X-D

Cloud didn't lose the ability to use his arm completely, but it was impaired. He'd drop his sword sometimes and clutch his arm.

The games are very long, but very worth it if you have the patience and if you like the turn-based battle style of the game.

I love Cloud too :)! AND FFVII:AC. He's so cute. I actually kind of like Sephiroth too...or at least his concept. Actually, that whole Jenova clan fascinates me. Kadaj, however whiny he comes off in the dub, is adorable.

I think that the funniest moment for me was in the middle of the battle between Tifa and Loz in the building that I'm guessing was a church. His phone rings and the ringtone is actually from the video game XD!

I really appreciate the FF series...I just wish I were better at playing the games ;_;...

I love them all! I adore the Jenova clan. I wrote a little fic about them once, but never finished it. Kadaj was so childish, I loved it! Him and his brothers are really just little kids.

I liked that moment too! And also when Loz or Yazoo (don't remember which) steps on Rude's glasses.

The games are so long. Imo they're worth every second. <3

I'm excited to read your fic when I have a little more time! I've never even thought to read FF fan fiction! I guess I was interested in FF before I really got back into fan fiction. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

And you're right - the games are worth every second. Every second that I managed to get to play was rewarded with gorgeous artwork, fantastic music and an addictive story line.

Sometimes the games were hard for me too! I'd always get stuck for weeks on the same boss and lose interest. Then I'd get interest again, level up like mad, and take on the boss again! The games are so great! FF7 is definitely my favorite, but FFX comes very close.

FF fic was my first introduction to fanfic! Yay!
